Grandma hit with Medical Alert System Scam!

I was visiting at my 79 year old grandma today when she received a phone call. My Ma didn’t recognize the phone number so decided to listen in on the call. It was a telemarketer telling grandma she was to receive a Free Medical Alert System.  Grandma was excited to hear the word FREE but Ma was super suspicious. The caller went on to tell grandma that all she had to do is verify her address and provide payment information to cover shipping costs. Ma immediately grabbed the phone from grandma and hung up. She then proceeded to check out the Caller ID number. (920) 593-9157. Ma searched online and found there is a scam going around all over the country targeting senior citizens for this Medical Alert system.  Make sure your Human grandmas and grandpas are safe and get them on the National NO CALL LIST.

If this happens to someone you know contact your State’s Consumer Protection Agency.

Found several other phone numbers reportedly used in this scam at Callercenter.com which included:

860-840-7104
404-857-1840
503-479-8673

I wonder if the authorities can use this information to locate the culprits.

I read that most of the numbers are mobile phones. Sadly many mobiles phones can not be traced to a particular person. Hopefully authorities can shut off their service.

Great post thanks for sharing this information
