This March will mark the 5th year that I have been with my Ma. I had just turned 4 when I was rescued by the National Mill Dog Rescue organization in Colorado. They found me in a puppy mill in near Lebanon, Missouri where I had served the first 4 years in bondage, forced to be a puppy mill momma. The NMDR took me to Colorado Springs and cleaned me up. Ma just happened to be looking at their website when she saw my photo.

Ma made some inquiries and soon I was on my way to meet my forever Ma!

I’ll be celebrating my 9th birthday on March 15th. In the past five years I’ve come a long way and learned a lot of what a dog is.

Here’s some of the things I’ve learned:

I can bark – It took about 3 years but now that I’ve learned I love to voice my opinion!

I can go down the stairs – I still can’t go up but if the stairs are wide I can walk down them!

I can drink from a bowl – This was hard to learn and I still have a tendency to try and throw the water back into my mouth but I’m using my tongue so much more!

I don’t get scared…much – Ma taught me that everything that scares me is something that should not be feared. I now stand tall to those things and bark at them…flashing lights still scare me.

I can walk on most surfaces – Some shiny floors I have a problem with but I can handle most surfaces.

Those are some of the more important things I’ve learned along with humans can be super nice and they are not all mean.  In my five years of freedom I’ve traveled extensively, met friends from all over the world, I have a great wardrobe, I love walkies and rides in the car. And I understand certain commands and vocal patterns in Ma’s voice.

The best thing that I’ve learned is that I am a valued animal with a voice and I am loved! I’ve yet to learn how to give kisses but Ma stays hopeful that someday I will learn how to show her how much I love her back.

Until then, I continue to learn and love life and love all those who have supported me since my freedom day!  THANK YOU ALL,!

With Love from Autumn

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

A San Francisco cable car holds 60 people. This blog was viewed about 1,400 times in 2013. If it were a cable car, it would take about 23 trips to carry that many people.
